Six Days+/Six Nights Itinerary

Day 1

a6 Afternoon: Check-in at the Charleston Place, renowned as Charleston’s finest hotel.  After meeting one another we start with a walking tour of historic Charleston led by Alex, a licensed Charleston tour guide and an 11th generation South Carolinian. The two hour tour takes us down quiet streets and past historic homes and into public and private gardens.

Evening: Tonight we enjoy Charleston’s oldest and most iconic seafood house, tucked away on a sparsely populated little island. Situated overlooking the water and it’s fishing boats that deliver up some of the freshest seafood around, it’s a casual, delicious and a memorable experience. Afterwards, we retire to our luxurious rooms.

Day 2

p1000068 Morning: Ater breakfast at the Palmetto Cafe, we begin our ride today as we will cycle past historic homes and to the top of the new Ravenal Bridge for a panoramic view of the harbor and city. We cruise down the bridge and onto Mount Pleasant’s waterfront park and onto Patriots Point and a close up view of the USS Yorktown, then  to the Old Village of Mount Pleasant. We continue and Sullivan’s Island and Ft. Moultrie, then across Breach Inlet to Isle of Palms, as well. The serene beaches, rich marshes, and striking views of the Atlantic Ocean are a treat. Group ride of 26 miles with an option of 10 more.

020 After a ride to Ft. Moultrie on Sullivan’s’, we enjoy lunch a favorite Carolina BBQ restaurant serving pulled pork, beef brisket, BBQ chicken and more. Afterwards we drive by van to Boone Hall Plantation for a tour of America’s most photographed plantation as well as one of America’s oldest working, living plantations which has produced crops continuously for over 320 years.

Afternoon: We return to Charleston Place where you may relax at their stunning pool, spa or shop on your own.

Evening:  Enjoy on your own a delicious meal at one of Charleston’s excellent restaurants – Seafood, BBQ, Southern cuisine, Fine dining and more.

Day 3

beaufort-inn-sc Morning: After another breakfast at the Palmetto Cafe, we start our 20 or 27 mile ride ( your choice) on Wadmalaw Island just minutes away. We’ll ride past old farms and plantations  making our way to the Charleston Tea Plantation, home of the only tea grown in America. We’ll enjoy a tour of the tea factory and a trolley ride of the fields followed by a picnic featuring low country foods under the shade of the plantations Live Oaks. Afterwards, for those wishing a longer ride, and additional 9 miles is available making a total of 36 miles. We then will shuttle to John’s Island to view Angel Oak, an amazing Live Oak tree, with a 28 foot circumference.

Afternoon: We return to the Charleston Place, where you may relax at the pool/spa or enjoy walking or shopping in the market area across the street from our hotel.

Evening:  This evening we walk to dinner at one of our favorite Four Star restaurants with a very creative chef serving a delicious three course meal of your choice.

Day 4

001 Morning:  After another fine breakfast at the Palmetto Café we depart for our bicycle tour to Beaufort and Savannah. As we travel by van to the heart of the ACE basin (an acronym for the Ashepo, Combahee and Edisto Rivers), a quiet natural wildlife area for our ride of 32 miles with a shorter option of 20 miles . Today you will ride past plantations and see some of the most beautiful marshes and wildlife, to include numerous migratory birds in season. Our lunch will be in  in the ACE Basin. Afterwards we stop at the photogenic ruins of Old Sheldon Prince Williams Parish and drive through the historic waterfront town of Beaufort.

Afternoon: We arrive in the charming city of Savannah and our centrally located home for the next three nights, The Presidents Quarters a , a Four Star historic property.

Evening: Tonight we enjoy dining in a nearby bistro very popular with locals.

Day 5


Morning: After a sumptuous hot breakfast at our Inn, some of us will load up and head out for an optional bicycle ride of a 20 – 24 mile in Palmetto Bluff Plantation while others may opt to stay in Savannah to explore the charming old city .

Afternoon: Afterwards, we all meet back in Savannah for a true family style Southern mid -day meal at the famous Mrs. Wilkes dining room. This afternoon enjoy a complimentary tour of one of Historic Savannah’s most stately mansions, the Owens – Thompson House.

Evening: Tonight enjoy a Savannah dinner on your own at one of the many excellent restaurants near by.

Day 6

wavinggirl1 Morning: We start our morning with another delicious breakfast followed by bicycle cruise of seven miles through Savannah’s unique 22 squares. Early Saturday morning has little traffic and it’s a great time to leisurely ride around the squares. Afterwards we return to our Inn briefly to freshen up. Some will choose to ride to Wormsloe Plantation and its majestic mile and a half grand avenue of moss draped Live Oaks and then back to Savannah for a total of 20 miles and  others may opt to take a day off and explore the city one last time. Enjoy lunch today on your own.

Afternoon: Relax, shop or walk through the squares, each has its own identity with informative historical markers. Or take advantage of a complimentary tour of two of Savannah’s art museums.

Evening: Tonight we walk to one of our favorite Savannah restaurants, its great food and atmosphere has garnered a strong following and an excellent reputation.

Day 7

Morning: We enjoy an early morning breakfast at our Inn before leaving and driving either to the Savannah or Charleston airport and saying farewell.
