Savannah, it’s Islands and Plantations

Three Days + Three Nights Itinerary

Day 1

dsc_0007 Morning: We meet mid morning at Charleston Place Hotel for the start of our bicycle tour to Beaufort and Savannah. As we travel by van to the heart of the ACE basin (an acronym for the Ashepo, Combahee and Edisto Rivers), a quiet natural wildlife area for our ride of 32 miles with a shorter option of 20 miles or a longer ride of 42 miles. Today you will ride past plantations and see some of the most beautiful marshes and wildlife, to include numerous migratory birds in season. Our Low country lunch will be in the ACE Basin. Afterwards we stop at the photogenic ruins of Old Sheldon Prince Williams Parish and drive through the historic waterfront town of Beaufort.

Afternoon: We arrive in the charming historic city of Savannah and our home for three bights at the centrally located 4 star Presidents Quarters Inn.

Evening: Tonight we enjoy a favorite low country seafood  meal .

Day 2

Morning:  After a sumptuous hot breakfast at our Inn, some of us will load up and head out for an optional bicycle ride of a 20 – 24 mile in Palmetto Bluff Plantation while others may opt to stay in Savannah to explore the charming old city .

Afternoon: Afterwards, we all meet for a true family style Southern mid -day meal at Savannah’s  famous Mrs. Wilkes dining room. This afternoon enjoy a tour of one of  Historic Savannah’s most stately mansions.

Evening: Tonight enjoy a Savannah dinner on your own at one of the many excellent  restaurants near by.

Day 3

s-3d-3 Morning: We start our morning with another delicious breakfast followed by bicycle cruise of seven miles through Savannah’s unique 22 squares. Early Saturday morning has little traffic and it’s a great time to leisurely ride around the squares. Afterwards we return to our Inn briefly to freshen up. Some will choose to ride to Wormsloe Plantation and its majestic mile and a half grand avenue of moss draped Live Oaks and then back to Savannah for a total of 20 miles and others may opt to take a day off and explore the city one last time. Enjoy lunch today on your own.

s-3d-4 Afternoon: Relax, shop or walk through the squares; each has its own identity with  informative historical markers. Or take advantage of a complimentary  tour of one of Savannah’s historical homes.

Evening: Tonight we walk to one of our favorite Savannah restaurants.  Its great food and atmosphere has garnered a strong local following and an excellent reputation.

Day 4

s-3d-6 Morning: We enjoy an early morning breakfast at our Inn before leaving and driving either to the Savannah or Charleston airport and saying farewell.
